As the storm settles, you may have guessed by now or by all the hype surrounding the biggest team in club football....the inevitable has happened.
Forget Valentines day forget the biggest love ins, Mourinho and Manchester United are the perfect match. Its Finally happened!
After Sir Alex Ferguson retired there was many names to take over the legendary seat, Manchester United had other ideas and David Moyes "the chosen one" was given the task to follow the footsteps of Sir Alex. Unfortunately it was too big of a job for him and was sacked two months before the 2013/14 season had ended with Ryan Giggs taking over for a short spell with United finishing the season in 7th place.
Then came along Louis Van Gaal, A big name manager wherever he won trophies. A world class appointment was bound to bring success an expectation of enthralling football was to be witnessed at the Theatre of Dreams. Instead of what became a failed philosophy in his first season as United edged to fourth place.
Into the second season of LVG's reign albeit of what ended his time at Manchester United. With big names shipped out consisting of player who were part of Sir Alex Ferguson's final title winning squad, A total of 14 proven players were moved on including the illustrious Robin Van Persie. Not to forget Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao who were signed by Louis Van Gaal the previous season were also being moved on after failing to establish their qualities at Old Trafford.
It was seemingless to think Louis Van Gaal would cope with such a thin squad with many new signings such as Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian and of course Anthony Martial.
A season which showed some promise on some occasions results against Liverpool home and away, Anthony Martial's incredible debut to the emergence of a young prodigy in Marcus Rashford albeit with many injuries in the team, but as Performances on this pitch and results not in favour many fans wanted to see the back of him, throughout the season speculation of LVG being sacked was constant after poor results including a 2-0 defeat at Stoke City on Boxing Day. As the season went on injuries to key players meant LVG had to call upon youth, the injury list prolonged as the season progressed it proved unbearable to the fans as United were knocked out of the Champions League group stages and then dropping into the Europa League losing to arch rivals Liverpool in the last 16.
Speculation after speculation will he wont he during LVG's final season kept on continuing, A damaging 5th placed finished did not help the cause of securing his job for another season despite winning the FA Cup, Once the nail finally hit the coffin....Jose Mourinho was signed sealed and delivered!
In my opinion Jose Mourinho should have been the one to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson, 3 years on he finally arrives at the helm.
From Inter Milan, Real Madrid to Chelsea Jose Mourinho flirted with United in the press, the so called Special One has a lot of confidence and a big ego but with his passion for Manchester United he will need to deliver quickly as many teams are running away whilst United could be getting left behind if this appointment does not futile ....The next few months a big statement must be made transfer wise.
The time has come for Jose Mourinho to deliver and manage for what he has been craving for, can he bring the biggest club back on top or foil like the other two predecessors in charge before him.
12 years on from Costinha's goal who would have thought Jose Mourinho would land the biggest job or challenge to bring back Manchester United to the top!?
Roll on next season!
As the saying goes for Manchester United fans "Hated, Adored and Never Ignored" the same could be said for Jose Mourinho....Could this be a match made in heaven?!....only time will tell!
