The Last Hurrah 14/15

It's been a season of Highs and lows as usual from battling top of the table to survival. 

As the season draws to an end, I look back briefly on a few clubs and my chosen player and goal of the season.

1. Chelsea - determined to go one better after finishing 2nd to Man City last season, started off in blockbuster fashion destroying most teams on their way, stumbled a few times but deserved to win the league

2. Manchester United - After a poor season and 7th placed finish, United needed a big response - in Came LVG with not the greatest of starts including a 4-0 thrashing in the league cup to MK Dons, formations which simply wouldn't work with injuries coincided,few months later LVG got the team ticking and just about achieved the target of finishing in the top 4.

3. Liverpool - you can only try to go one better when you achieve your best - but as usual at Liverpool they go downhill, Suarez gone - Sturridge injuries and with mediocre signings Liverpool were nowhere near the level they had achieved by coming close to winning the league last season.

4. Southampton/West Ham/Swansea - I have these 3 clubs together due to the fact they started really well and were literally pushing for top 4 places, Southampton have been great to watch this season, West Ham until they had injuries faded away with the season gone on, same

Goes for Swansea but they have been an incredible team

With a former player in charge 

Leicester City - a roller coaster of a season for them stuck in the bottom 3 most of the season, credit to Nigel Pearson and the team for keeping at it and fighting out for survival

Ryan Giggs - Born and Red Legend in the making

The title says it all really. As Ryan Giggs announces his retirement from playing, 

here is my brief  blog on the legend himself.

A tribute to one of the most decorated players in Manchester United’s history,  A footballing legend. 

When Ryan Giggs burst onto the scene in 1990 few would have thought he’d continue till he is 40! Running down the wing,gliding in and out scoring or assisting fellow team mates was a great sight to see. An inspiration to the footballing world young and old.

2 UCL

4 FA Cups

4 League Cups
Consecutively scoring in every Premier League season since it began bar last season.

Broke many records along the way, as years went by his experienced was made useful by him often playing in a central midfield role which had flourished exceptionally well.  Some of his passes were just pure matching winning brilliance, Fedrico Macheda v Aston Villa 2009 and Michael Owen (Manchester Derby ) 2009 to just name a few.

Taking up Yoga was a great idea for Ryan Giggs as he stayed healthy and produced the goods whenever he was picked, not going to be biased and say he didn't have a bad game even the greatest have had bad games, was last of the Class of ‘92 to unfortunately call it a day. Its sad to see such a legend and a favourite of mine retiring but as he takes up that Assistant role to Louis Van Gaal will we see the next “Ryan Giggs”

Wayne Rooney - Hustler or Footballer?

Wayne Rooney signs contract extension worth £300K a week

As the meltdown of the footballing world comes to a halt, here's my view on the contract extenstion.

Many people have said he deserves it many others have said it's ludicrous but one thing for sure Manchester United were desperate to keep Wayne Rooney.

Wayne Rooney does not deserve the new contract in my view due to fact the way he has treated the club over two situations.

In 2010 he questioned the clubs ambitions and ended up signing an improved contract - 3 years later a similar story as he fell out with Sir Alex Ferguson. While Sir Alex retired in came David Moyes a manager Rooney knew since he started off at Everton, Chelsea came knocking in the Summer for Wayne Rooney but Manchester United were reluctant to let him leave.

Those doubts of Wayne Rooney leaving Manchester United came to an end as in February 2014 he signed a new contract extenstion with "extras" in having him being a club ambassador once he retires.

There's also talk of him being the next Manchester United captain once Nemanja Vidic leaves for Inter and rumours have it Wayne Rooney will have a say in future transfer business.

Maybe Sir Alex retiring could have had Wayne Rooney's mind changed and signed the new deal.

I am happy as a Manchester United fan that Wayne Rooney has signed a new contract, but does he really deserve that huge contract and the rest that comes with it?

A great player he maybe, Manchester United do need him but I don't think he deserves it due to the fact he put himself first over the club in the past

I just wonder what will happen if United have another disastrous summer transfer window or go two seasons without Champions League football and another of the big clubs come calling?!

In the end Wayne Rooney and his agent caught Manchester United at a time they just couldn't sell.

Keeping it English....is Jack Wilshere on point?

I don't understand what is the hype about foreigners who "could" turn out for England in the future.

This week Manchester United's Adnan Januzaj has caused a stir on and off the pitch, off the pitch he's probably made Jack Wilshere shit his pants (not really but that's what it seems).

Ok I do agree with the fact you have to be born here and be fully "English" to play for our national team but wasn't a certain Mr Youtuber....I mean Owen Hargreaves born in Canada!

Played in Germany for a while then moved to England so he possibly could of played for Canada or Germany but am sure he played for England while he was in Germany!

 Anyways that's not the point but he was probably one of our and Manchester United's best midfielder until he got injured and ruined his career by going to the blue side of Manchester(booooooooo)! 

but no concern was raised when Owen Hargreaves played

So why the hype now? 

Not like England have been successful in the modern era and I don't think they will ever be Unless of course things change but it could be a little too late with the St Georges Park facilities and other input the new FA chief Greg Dyke will bring in. 

Yes Brazil and other international teams do possibly have a few who were not born in the actual country they play for but if you look at Spain how they bring about their own players and how they "sell" their football right through their youth teams England are embarrassingly miles behind.

There's no problem with "foreign-ish" players playing for England but why can't we create our own blooded youths who will have a passion to play for England rather than a foreign player looking lost while "God Save The Queen", "3 Lions on the shirt" or any other patriotic England song blazez out.

I wonder if there would of been so much debate if say Thierry Henry turned out to play for England rather than a teenage prodigy who hasn't said mentioned anything about playing for an international team yet!

So much hype right now with the debate wonder what would happen if a foreigner did end up playing for England?!!! Can imagine the media meltdown, The Queen would probably move to India and we'd all have to learn a new language...foreignish(no?...bad joke)

If one foreigner English based player does one day end up playing for England then no point of having any of the junior teams because what will happen is we will end up having more than ONE you know how the FA are ;)

Sir Alex Ferguson - A Tribute to a Legend

Well I do not know where to start! 

You know that feeling when someone in your close family goes away and you know they are not coming back, there's no word to describe that feeling well that is how I felt when Sir Alex Ferguson sent shock waves throughout the world.

Yes it was inevitable that Sir Alex was coming to the end of a glittering career but I did not expect it so soon it came as a shock.

I can say Sir Alex Ferguson could be classed as a "Father" figure to every single Manchester United fan , being at the club for 26 years Fergie;s legacy will not leave any Manchester United fans hearts. He is the greatest manager ever and no one will repeat this managerial legacy.

I was not expecting Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement so soon certainly nobody was prepared for the retirement news apart from the club who I can say have handled it brilliantly and have listened to the legend he is Sir Alex Ferguson on appointing a great appointment in David Moyes as successor.

Sir Alex is all I have ever known at the club it will be difficult to come to terms with his retirement as he is a huge part of Manchester United, will be hard to imagine him not being on the touchline,chewing his gum on the bench, celebrating a last minute goal or dancing away on the sidelines. no more asking your friends who will get the "hair dryer" at half time whenever certain players disappoint during a game. 

Whatever Sir Alex Ferguson has done for the club,fans and players hopefully no one will ever forget.

Building many teams that have been successful and dominant throughout the years, players turning into world class under Sir Alex Ferguson us United fans have been spoilt by great success,

Its been an emotional roller coaster ride the "Fergie" years one I will never forget.

What a manager - what a football figure - what a legend!

Goal Line Technology - Too late?

As the footballing world have been crying out for Goal Line technology I believe it may ruin the beautiful game.

Fifa have finally agreed to bring goal-line technology into the game and it will be used during next years World Cup final, it is a huge step and by having this opportunity it may ruin the excitement,passion and nerve wracking moments in our game.

Yes as a supporter you would want justice for your team but as a neutral seeing nervy nail biting moments is what one of the reasons the love of football is all about, if football turns into a cricket or tennis type of system for goal-line technology I actually would think the game will become more boring.

People like to see a game flowing rather than a stop-start and when goal line technology comes in it will just be that.

There have been many controversial decisions over the years but does it really happen week in week out....hardly happens !?

It will help officials during a game but all the work will be done by camera work,do we really want our football to turn into a robotic format and not be a free flowing game?

The media have driven us to get goal-line technology for many years now and Fifa have finally decided now is the time,instead of putting huge amount of money on goal-line technology why don't Fifa have a look at some of the controversial footballing bodies like UEFA who seem to fix draws every season?

So it seems the endless debates on Monday mornings,blogs,forum talks and fan banter will be gone....

Technology will kill the game!!!

Recession in Football - A painful devastation for fans

This is a brief overview on Recession in Football, I am trying to get feedback from people on what they feel about the recession. feel free to read and comment your views.

In the past football was just a simple ball game, you'd get a free stand at a game or a cheap ticket(considering the times we are in) but as you now can see most clubs are debt ridden or the mighty have fallen ala Rangers FC.

A recent study showed Arsenal FC selling the most expensive tickets for a match day at £126 and season tickets  at £1,955 which must hurt some fans as they have not won a trophy in nearly 8 years! While a team in the third tier of Scottish football has the most cheapest for a match day at £9 and season tickets at £90.

Nowadays travel prices have gone racking up as well as food prices so for the average person they may have to cough up a weekly or monthly wage just to go watch their favourite team.Yes entertainment in football  has become immensely great but peoples pockets are becoming more empty.
